San Miguel de Allende is easily accessible from several major airports in central Mexico. 

  • Querétaro Intercontinental Airport (QRO)

Distance to San Miguel: Approximately 1 to 1.5 hour drive.

The closest and most convenient airport to San Miguel de Allende. Many travelers connect through cities like Dallas, Houston, or Mexico City.

  • León / Guanajuato International Airport (BJX)

Distance to San Miguel: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hour drive.

 

  • Mexico City International Airport (MEX)

Distance to San Miguel: Approximately 3.5 to 4 hour drive.

Helpful Tips

CURRENCY


The local currency is the Mexican peso. Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to carry some cash for smaller spots, tips, and local vendors.

Spanish is the primary language, but English is commonly spoken in hotels, restaurants, and shops. 

GETTING AROUND
 

The city is very walkable, but streets are cobblestone. Comfortable shoes are a must.

San Miguel sits at a higher elevation, so you may feel it slightly when walking uphill or the first day. Bring comfortable walking shoes.
